Rivers State extends its transition period to Contributory Pension Scheme
National Pension Commission (PenCom) has provided an update on the amendment of River State Pension Reform Law 2019 in its 4th quarter 2022 report.
PenCom said it was informed by Rivers State Government in October 2022 of the amendment of the Rivers State Pension Reform Law 2009 to further extend the transition period by another (3) years from June 2022 to July 2025.
The current amendment implies that all active employees of Rivers State who made contributions under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and those due to retire under the CPS up to 30 June 2025, have been transited back to the Defined Benefits Scheme (DBS).
