PTAD Holds Capacity Workshop for Pension Correspondents

Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has again called on the media to continue their positive reportage of the agency because it will correct all misrepresentations and inform pensioners and other stakeholders of the agency’s activities.

At a one-day training organized for the National Association of Insurance and Pension Correspondents Association (NAIPCO) in Lagos on February 28, 2022, the Executive Secretary, Dr Chioma Ejikeme represented by the Director Parastatals Pensions Department (PaPD), Mr Kabiru Yusuf, said that the importance of the media to the operations of PTAD cannot be overemphasized because as partners in progress, we rely on the media, especially our reporters to work with us to ensure that our mandate is fulfilled.

As contained in the ES speech, “over the years, PTAD has worked assiduously to change the narrative of pension administration in Nigeria, especially under the Defined Benefits Scheme, and we are proud to see that the hard work has yielded and has continued to yield positive results. Pension management in Nigeria is a very sensitive issue, and PTAD has been at the forefront since inception, ensuring that the welfare of pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme remains a priority. It is very important, as reporters, to understand where we are coming from, where we are, where we are headed, and what exactly we do, so you can report accurately.”

The presentations focused on the Act establishing PTAD, PTAD mandate, the different operational departments, resolving pension complaints and “I Am Alive” Confirmation Solution as well as PTAD’s Outlook. Reporters from NAIPCO cutting from across the Print, Electronic and Online news media were in attendance and participated in the training.
