Nigeria Union of Pensioners Accuses Osun State Government of Using another Pension Group to Undermine their Demands.

Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Osun State branch, has accused the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of giving support to a group of retirees called Triangular Pensioners in a bid to undermine the demands of the generality of senior citizens in the state.

Addressing newsmen at the Nigeria Union of Pensioners’ Osun State secretariat in Osogbo, the state chairman of the union, Ganiyu Salami, said whenever pensioners made request, the group being backed by government, usually speak against their demands.

He alleged that the Triangular Group, led by Mr Rotimi Adelugba, was recognised by government to create crisis among pensioners in the state.

He said, “There are occasions when the Triangular group would act against our collective good. They are being used against our collective well-being by the government. If you are aware, the state government owes us arrears of pensions, but whenever members of Triangular Group appeared or featured on radio, they would say government did not owe us.”

The Chairman of Triangular Pensioners Group, Rotimi Adelugba, denied being sponsored by government.

He said, “My position is that the issue of irregular payment of pension is not peculiar to Osun. I want my colleagues to show understanding because we know how much the state gets as monthly allocation.”
