Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company Workers Protest Over Salaries and Pension Contribution
Workers of the Kaduna Electric Distribution Company on Tuesday down tools over alleged nonpayment of salaries and non-remittance of their pension contributions to their Pension Fund Administration for the past two years.
The workers led by union officials on the platform of the National Union of Electricity Employees locked down the company premises, by using vehicles to barricade the main entrance to the corporate head office along Bank road, in the state capital.
Written on the vehicles blocking the main gate of the electricity company were such inscriptions as “Pay our two years pension to PFA”, “Pay us our salary in full,” and “We say no to modern-day slavery.” The workers also chanted solidarity songs during the protest.
The workers led by their union officials under the National Union of Electricity Employees on Wednesday vowed to continue their protest, against the alleged nonpayment of their salaries and the non-remittance of their pension contributions, until their demands are met.
