Jigawa State House of Assembly is on the verge of passing a law that would ensure former governors and their deputies enjoy mouth watering life-long pensions.
A bill to ensure that former governors and their deputies in Jagawa State start enjoying mouth watering life-long pension has been presented to the Jigawa State House of Assembly.
The bill is believed to have been sponsored by the State Executive, to enable all former governors and their deputies from the state enjoy mouth watering life-long pensions.
The speaker of the House, Alhaji Isa Idris, asked members to consider the reading of the bill for the second time as part of the process towards turning the bill into a Law.
A member of the Jigawa House of Assembly representing Dutse, Alhaji Musa Sule, challenged the bill, saying that the bill does not have any clause to exclude or stop pension for any former governor and their deputies who secure elections to the national assembly.
The speaker of the House, Alhaji Isa Idris then called for a voice vote, which was overwhelmingly accepted by members of the House and enabled the bill to pass through the second reading.
With the bill scaling through the second reading, its certain that the bill will soon be passed into law.
