Jigawa Pays N2bn For Payment of Pension, Gratuities To Retirees
Hon. Hashim Ahmad Fagam, Executive Secretary, Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board has disclosed that the state government released and paid over N2b as pension and gratuity arrears to different cadre of retired civil servants across the state from January to date.
According to him, the government is not owing a single kobo in pension due to retired civil servants, saying the payment covers the period from January to May this year and arrears of previous months which stood at N1.4b in addition to March to May this year’s payment of N666,737,055.64k to 321 beneficiaries.
Giving the breakdown, he disclosed that 80 retired civil servants were paid N183,951,027.21k, while 53 retired staffs of the Local Government Councils were paid N53,477,541.09k, while 188 retired staffs of LEA collected the sum of N431,308,487.34 as their benefits. Other payments include death benefits to 13 people at the state level in the sum of N36,390,802.89k, while LGA has 14 people and have received N14,896,730.00k as benefit, while 15 people from the LEA received N32,186,059.00k.
