Etranzact Lauds MPB on Proposed Electronic Verification of Nigeria Military Pensioners

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of eTranzact, Mr. Olaniyi Toluwalope, has commended the leadership of the Military Pensions Board (MPB), headed by Commodore SA Lawal, for its resolve to electronically verify Nigerian military pensioners within and outside the country.

The eTranzact MD/CEO stated this recently while on a courtesy visit to the office of the Chairman MPB in Abuja. According to him, the determination by the MPB to embark on this Electronic Verification Exercise (EVE) is a testament to the visionary disposition of the current MPB administration. “This is not only worthy to be emulated by other government agencies, but we all should celebrate the Board for its ingenuity” he added.

Speaking further, Mr. Olaniyi reiterated that the eTranzact is indeed proud to be associated with MPB on a project such as this and would ensure that necessary technical assistance needed to ensure the electronic verification exercise succeeds are provided. The MD who confirmed that the EVE will be the first of its kind in the country, further reiterated that his visit to the Board is to reinvigorate the strategic alliance between the MPB and eTranzact and to ensure that the verification exercise is effectively executed with a 100 per cent success rate.

In his remarks, the Chairman MPB, Commodore SA Lawal, thanked the MD and his team for the efforts they have made towards the success of the proposed EVE holding in the second quarter of 2021. The Chairman explained that the preference for an EVE is to ensure retirees in the diaspora and at home are not left out as well as to overcome the shortcomings of the hitherto physical verification exercise which is usually stressful, cumbersome, time-consuming, uneconomical and exerting hardship on the mostly aged military pensioners. “It is believed that the proposed electronic verification exercise would eliminate the hardship and stress associated with the previous system of manual/physical verification exercise”, he reiterated.

Additionally, the Chairman charged eTranzact to ensure that the EVE application is robust enough so as to eliminate all forms of technical hitches. He, however, revealed that before the exercise commences, there will be a practical demonstration at the Defence Headquarters, Ministry of Defence and at the Board with representatives of military retirees’ associations present.

This is to ensure maximum imputes are generated from stakeholders to ensure the success of the EVE. Commodore Lawal also used the opportunity to assure all retirees on MPB payroll that the Exercise will be devoid of any form of bottlenecks. He also assured that there would be adequate sensitization on the Exercise before its commencement. He, however, noted that no specific date has been fixed for the commencement of the exercise yet.
