Disregard rumour on Payment of new Salary – MPB

Military Pension Board has advised its pensioners to disregard the statement making the rounds in the social media, that the MPB is to commence the payment of a new salary rate by the end of October. MPB said it is working with the National Salaries Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC) to draw-up a new payment chart for military pensioners with regards to implementing the new minimum wage policy of the Federal Government.

Below is the statement from the Military Pension Board

1. The Military Pensions Board (MPB) wishes to inform our esteemed pensioners to disregard, in totality, the statement making the rounds in the social media, that the Board is to commence the payment of a new salary rate by the end of October. For the avoidance of doubt, the MPB wishes to state unequivocally that it is a rumor and aimed at misleading our esteemed retirees. It is further aimed to distract the Board from achieving its vision of improving the welfare of military pensioners.

The MPB will want to reiterate that:

a. As at today, 16 October 2020, no new increment was made to pensions of military retirees in Nigeria.

b. The Board is working closely with the National Salaries Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC) so as to draw-up a new payment chart for military pensioners with regards to implementing the new minimum wage policy of Government.

c. When the new payment chart is ready and approval for the implementation is given, the Board will adequately inform all military pensioners of the effective date.

2. Finally, our esteemed retirees are advised to always rely on established official means of communication provided by the Board to source their information. Pensioners can call the Board on 09087447782 or 09087994694 or send an email to info@mpb.ng. While thanking you for your usual support and understanding, please accept the assurances and esteemed regards of the Chairman, MPB.
