Pensioners in my State will not go through Pains to get Monthly Pension – State Governor

Imo State Governor has assured pensioners in the state that they would not go through pains again before they receive their monthly pension.

Governor Emeka Ihedioha, represented by the Chief Technical Adviser, Mr. Pascal Madu, gave this assurance in a statement yesterday in Owerri while observing the verification exercise for pensioners in the state. He said the main reason why they need to do biometric capturing of the data of retired civil servants before payment is to end the menace of ghost pensioners in the state.

Chief Technical Adviser, Mr. Pascal Madu, said we did promise our pensioners that we are going to pay them but it is important that we verify those we are going to pay. He further disclosed that payment of the arrears will commence three (3) days after the exercise had been concluded.

He expressed sadness at the stress pensioners go throw in accessing their monthly pensions after years of retirement but he however expressed delight at the speed the exercise was progressing, stressing that out of the estimated 30,000 pensioners in the state, about 14,000 had already been captured.
