Dame Adewuyi who made this recommendation in Benin last week while on a courtesy visit to Governor Godwin Obasekt said ICAN members deserve the appointment considering their technical competence and experience.
She noted that Chartered Accountants in Edo State have the capacity to contribute significant value towards the growth of the State. While expressing appreciation for various opportunities already extended to ICAN members to serve in the State civil service, she appealed to the governor to consider them for more appointments into key finance areas in the State civil service.
“Chartered Accountants, by the nature of our training, have the capacity and the technical know-how to work with governments across all levels in translating financial assets and information into direct and positive impact on the standards of living of the masses”, she explained.
She also appealed to the Governor to sponsor ICAN Members and other staff of the State civil service in accounting and finance related departments to the Institute’s training programmes. The ICAN president also implored the Governor, Obasekt to increase the State Government’s investments in educational technology to facilitate remote learning for students in public schools within the State as a way of coping with the disruptions caused by the Corona Virus pandemic.
