Pay Verified Workers Now, Bauchi Governor Directs BVN Verification Committee.
Bauchi State Government has directed the Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) Verification Committee to immediately commence payments for the November salary of workers whose BVN have already been verified.
The Adamu Ibrahim Gumba-led BVN Verification Committee was constituted to verify the non-possession of the BVN by some workers and pensioners on its payroll.
The directive was contained in a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr Ladan Salihu issued to journalists in Bauchi on Saturday, explaining that the development followed the briefing received by the governor from the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Gumba.
Information Commissioner, Salihu, in the statement, stated that already the committee indicated that it has successfully concluded the first phase of the physical verification of a total of 5,238 staff from the State’s Civil Service.
According to him, out of the figure, 4,654 have met the physical verification requirements while 583 failed to attend the exercise stating that to this end, those who failed to participate in the exercise are excluded from any payment until further investigations on their status are carried out.
The Information and Communications Commissioner also stated that physical verification of 14,623 from Local Government Education Authorities and Primary Healthcare Departments will be conducted between 23rd and 30th of this month.
Ladan Salihu who said the state government appreciated the patience, understanding and support of the civil servants, noted that their sacrifice and perseverance in this regard will assist the government to eliminate ghost workers and to entrench a credible payroll of workers.
Meanwhile, the BVN verification Committee has commenced visits to the 20 local government areas of the state, a development which according to the Secretary of the Committee, Isyaka Tijjani, became necessary in order to enable the committee to deliver on its mandate effectively, saying the exercise will commence this Saturday.
He said that the committee was divided into 6 sub-committees where each is expected to cover at least 3 or 4 local government areas within the stipulated period explaining that, Team A will cover Bogoro, Dass, Tafawa-Balewa and Toro Local government areas, Team B is to cover Gamawa, Katagum and Zaki while Team C is to cover Ganjuwa, Ningi and Warji.
He added that the Team D is to cover Dambam, Dazaro and Misau, while Giade, Itas Gadau, Jama’are and Shira LGs would be covered by the team E just as, Team F is to cover Alkaleri, Bauchi and Kirfi local government areas.
Tijjani Isyaka called on the affected civil servants and pensioners to come along with their identity cards, appointment letters, last promotion letters, statement of account for three months as well as authentic BVN slip while pensioners are to come along with their computation, approval for retirement and pension ID cards.
He then called on all local government areas to cooperate with the committee to ensure the success of the exercise for the betterment of civil servants and pensioners in the state.
