PTAD Verified Over 5,000 Federal Government’s Pensioners During the Fourth Phase of its Pensioners’ Verification Exercise in North-East
Pensions Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has disclosed that it verified over 5,000 pensioners of Federal Government’s agencies and parastatals during the fourth phase of the pensioners’ verification exercise in the North-East.
Director of Parastatals Pension, Suleiman Shelleng, made the disclosure at the end of the verification of retirees of 270 Federal Government’s agencies.
He said,
“During the exercise, we verified well over 5,000 less than the 6,000 on our records. We achieved at least 90% success rate. But nobody knows what could have happened to the rest pensioners. Some may have been out of town or others may have died.”
He said the major challenge encountered during the exercise was loss of documents complained about by pensioners who blamed it on insurgency. Shelleng, however, noted that the challenge did not pose any setback because PTAD had the file of each pensioner.
