PFAs’ Total Shareholders’ Fund now ₦211.26 Billion
The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has disclosed that the total Shareholders’ Fund for all Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) in Nigeria is now ₦211.26 billion.
PFAs in Nigeria had been mandated by PenCom to increase their shareholders fund to a minimum of N5 billion by 27 April 2022. PenCom said the increase was necessary because the value of pension fund assets under management and custody had grown exponentially from N3 trillion in 2012 when the last recapitalisation was done. PenCom also said that its oversight function had shown that the old minimum capital of N1 billion was no longer adequate to meet the operational expenses of running a PFA.
In compliance with the N5 billion minimum shareholders fund, the 20 PFAs in Nigeria as at 27 April 2022 had increased their shareholders fund accordingly.
